Artist Laura Livermore painting on silk

Award winning artist Laura Livermore learned the art of silk painting while living in southern Germany. She’s influenced by some of history’s greatest artists…. Van Gogh, Klimt, Modigliani….as well as nature.. a garden path, flowers and water. Laura has exhibited her silk paintings in art shows throughout the country, from New York to Miami to Sedona.

Laura and her husband currently live near Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They’ve sailed across the Atlantic as well in the Adriatic and through the Greek islands. During sailing season, when Laura’s not painting, you’ll find her sailing on their 27-foot Soverel Wild Goose in the Milwaukee Bay and up and down the shores of Lake Michigan.

“Most people paint on paper or canvas…for some reason I paint on silk. I stumbled on this art form while living in Germany and fell in love with it. The floodgates opened and I have not been able to stop since. To paint with dyes, directly on to the silk is a magical experience! The possibilities are infinite.”
